Many, if not all, of the donation centers in my area are no longer accepting entertainment centers. Remember those? Big, bulky, heavy cabinets that used to house big, bulky, heavy televisions and audio equipment. They used to occupy a place of prominence in the house and people gathered around them for--you guessed it--entertainment. They used cost quite a bit of money. A few decades after their advent, they are now a thing of the past. Like most of our earthly fascination, this one is belongs to the past.
My family had one until a few weeks ago, when the 1990's television decided to retire. And there sat the entertainment center that no one needed or wanted. In a moment of inspiration, I decided to repurpose it. Today, it sits on its sides, shelves reconfigured, awaiting a fresh coat of paint.
Like our earthly goods, so much of what we are is passing--our bodies, our emotions, our thoughts, our ideas and belief systems. At one point in our lives, what we believed in may have been important, even vital to our survival, that we invested so much energy in it. And then, one day, we may find that the idea no longer holds true, that it is time to re-consider how it impacts the way we Live.

"You are the sky. Everything else is just the weather," a dear friend and teacher often says.
During these cloudy, rainy days, its easy to forget that. Wrapped up in the weather of one's passing, everyday existence, I often get lost in the fears and worries that cloud the absolute--the sky.
Beginnings are endings, and endings are beginnings--the two are one. As humans living within space time, markers delineate the process, and help us navigate this life. This site is one of my markers. Today, I am celebrating.
