Relationships require a giving and receiving. Self care is vital in relationships. We cannot give what we do not have, and can we cannot receive when we do not empty. Here are easy self care practices to enrich your relationship with yourself and others.
1. Connect with Nature. Feel the earth underneath your feet, wonder at the vastness of an open sky, receive the gift of each breath. You do not have to live in the forest to experience the natural world. Tend to a garden, sit under a tree, care for a plant, gaze at the moon or the stars.
2. Start and end the day with gratitude. It is easy to get caught in the mindset of doing and needing. Offering gratitude resets and opens the mind to the unending abundance of life. From this sense of abundance comes a sense of calm and equanimity.
3. Spend a few moments everyday in quiet and place a hand over your heart, just bringing your attention to the fact that you are breathing.

"You are the sky. Everything else is just the weather," a dear friend and teacher often says.
During these cloudy, rainy days, its easy to forget that. Wrapped up in the weather of one's passing, everyday existence, I often get lost in the fears and worries that cloud the absolute--the sky.
Beginnings are endings, and endings are beginnings--the two are one. As humans living within space time, markers delineate the process, and help us navigate this life. This site is one of my markers. Today, I am celebrating.
